Interesting Wath Wedding
Miss Mary Skipwith Nicholson, M. B., Ch.B., only daughter of Coun P. B. Nicholson, J.P.. and Mrs. Nicholson, J.P., of Brampton Bierlow, was married at Christ Church, Brampton on Saturday, to Second- Lieutenant Dan Scott, son of Mr. and the late Mrs. D. Scott, of Newcastle-under-Lyne. The bride’s father is chairman of Wath Urban Council and general manager of the Cortonwood By-Product Plant.
Both bride and bridegroom are graduates of Leeds University. Miss Nicholson was also trained at Leeds Medical School, and previous to her marriage was on the medical staff of Grantham Hospital.
Second.-Lieut Scott, who is serving with the North Staffordshire Regiment, obtained his B.Sc. at Leeds with First Class Honours in Agricultural Chemistry. The bride is a grand-daughter of the late Dr. Alfred Nicholson. of Leeds.
The Vicar of Brampton, the Rev. C. L. Suggit officiated at the ceremony and appropriate organ music tone was played by Mr. W. Wilcox.
The bride, who was given away by her father, was unattended. She wore a becoming two-piece ensemble in hyacinth blue woollen Angora, comprising a high-necked severely cut dress and a full length edge-to-edge coat with a tie belt, Navy blue suede shoes, a blue straw hat trimmed with veiling and of a spray of cream roses completed her toilette.
The bridegroom’s brother. Mr. George Scott was best man.
Among the guests at the reception which was held at the home of the bride’s parents, were Dr. Margaret Child, Dr. T. Crowley, Dr. May Downie and Dr. Jean Gautby, . Mrs. G. Scott, Mrs R. Henshall, Mr. and Mrs. F. Cooke, Miss E. Durrans, Second-Lieut. H. R. B. Gautby, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hick, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Hebden. and Mr. and Mrs. J. Marshall.
Mrs. Nicholson received the guests wearing a becoming navy blue ensemble with accessories to tone and a spray of pink carnations.
