Well Done Wath

At The Top of The Table

The Four Semi-Finalists.

Wath completed their programme by a decisive double over Denaby and thus finished at the top of the Yorkshire Council table for the first time in their career.

As a result, they compete for the second time – the first was in 1925 – in the championship tests, and to-morrow renew old Mexborough League rivalries with South Kirkby, who are competing for the championship for the second consecutive season.

Wath completed the double over Denaby and completed their ordinary programme with a good win. Greenwood, the highest Denaby sorer against a deadly keen attack, missed off two consecutive deliveries after he had scored 5 in three quarters of an hour.

Wath proceeded at the respectable rate of a run a minute to rub off the runs. Hargreaves took half the Denaby wickets for 67 and Stancey’s 3 wickets cost 28 runs.

Springthorpe took 3 for 44 for Denaby. Greenwood (29), Wainwright (25), and Wild (16) were Denaby’s principal scorers. For Wah the main contributions were made by Senior (43), Potts (38), Jewshury (22) and Cutts (15). Jewsbury and Cutts were unbeaten.
