Spring Colour for a Melton Bride
Princess Street Methodist Church, West Melton, was filled with spring colour on Saturday – daffodils, tulips, narcissi, forsythia – for the marriage before a crowded congregation of Miss Joan Cutts, younger daughter of Alderman and Mrs. W. Cutts, 29, Orchard Place, Wath-on-Dearne, to Mr. Thomas Roy Palframan B.Sc., eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Palframan, 1, Festival Road, Wath-on-Dearne.
The choral service was conducted by the Rev. J. E. Hirst and the hymns “Thou God of Truth and Love”, “O Perfect Love” and “Now Thank We All our God”, were led at the organ by Mrs. B Clarke. At the special request of the bridal couple the third hymn was sung by the congregation during the signing of the register and led into the Wedding March.
Contrast
The bride, given away by her father, was wearing a full-length empire line gown in mock wild silk. Charming ornamentation was afforded by the gowns lace sleeves and collar and was complimented by her full-length veil and pretty white floral hat. The gown had a flowing train and tasteful contrast in colour lay in the bride’s bouquet of tangerine roses, white freesia and lilies of the valley.
Her two senior bridesmaids, Miss Diana Thompson and Miss Lynn Sugars, a college friend and former Head Girl at Wath Grammar School, were in full length gowns of daffodil yellow crepe with long, full chiffon sleeves. They had matching headbands and each carried a posy of tangerine carnations and freesias. Junior attendant, Helen Cutts, the bride’s niece was in a full-length dress of pastel green crepe with short puffed sleeves. She carried a pompadour of carnations and freesias.
The best man was Mr Keith Rose of Quorn near Loughborough. The groomsman was Mr. Philip Cutts, the bride’s nephew and the ushers were Mr. Kenneth Palframan, and Mr. John Kearsley
