Wath Local Board
A monthly meeting was held last night, County Council Whitworth in the chair.
The Medical Officer reported that there had been 29 births in 10 deaths during the month. There had been a good deal of “weather – illness” among children.
The sewerage in common Lane was complained of, and the medical officer said it had been dangerous to health some time.
The board took the needful steps in the matter.
The report of the collector was that £242 3s 10d have been paid into the bank in connection with the general district rate, leaving £2188 3s 5d still outstanding.
A complaint was made by Mr Thompson as to gas lamps been turned out at 5:30 a.m., and the chairman said 6 o’clock was quite soon enough to turn them out. It was arranged that this should be so.
A report a letter was read from the Local Government Board asking the Local Board for particulars in reference to the proposal to borrow £3000 for the purchase of Wath Hall. It was decided that the Town Hall Committee would raise the necessary details for this purpose.
