Breach of Colliery Rules.

Alfred Street of Mexborough, was summoned for having committed a preach of special rule 65 at Manvers Main Colliery, on the 26th November, by not fixing a back stay or drag behind a train of corves going up an incline; also for having violated special rule 88 on the same date by not closing a , ventilation door after passing through it.

Defendant pleaded guilty to both offences.

Mr. Hickmott prosecuted, and said that on the day named defendant was driving some corves up an incline. He bad no backstay or drag fixed behind the corves.

Mr. Kenyon, the under manager and a deputy met him and asked him where his backstay was. He replied that he had left it on some corves. On proceeding down the incline, the officials found a ventilation door propped open with two bricks. The ventilation affected 33 men.

Evidence having been given, defendant was fined 20s. and costs.
