Fighting Family

Ex-Guardsman W. Linley, Ford Lane. Stocksbridge, sends us photographs of eight of his nephews who are serving with H.M. Forces.

Guardsman Fred Catling (Coldstreams) and Fusilier Sydney Catling, were both at Dunkirk. Photographer Charles Catling, a photographer before the war, is with the Fleet Air Arm. Private Briscoe Catling is in Africa.

This fighting family of four live at Newhill, Wath-on-Dearne.

Private Arthur Gledhill, of Hillsborough has put in twelve months’ service. Bombardier Oswald Boswell, of Langsett. joined the Army before the war, and is serving in England. Guardsman Denis Babb (Coldstreams), of Holmfirth, was born at Stocksbridge, and joined the Army before the war. Gunner Frank Silburn, of Haywoods Park, Deepcar, who worked in the Wire Department of the local works, joined up a year ago.

Ex-Guardsman W. Linley,whose father served in the ,Boer War and in the last war, has two brothers who served in the last war. He is justly proud of the family record.
