Manvers Main were beaten 6-2 at Hampden Road by Sheffield Wednesday Res. The visitors, who included Nibloe, former international. at left back, were far superior, and their fast and clever forward line, in which Barber (centre-forward) and Everett (outside-left) were outstanding, had an hard worked Manvers defence at “sizes and sevens.The home attack tried hard but were no match for a strong Wednesday defence. Edwards (right half) played well for Manvers.

Wednesday took the lead in the first halt minute, a brilliant movement ending in BARBER scoring. Manvers equalised through NEWZY, only for BARBER to give his side the lead again. In the second half Wednesday applied pressure and BARBER (3) and EVERETT added further goals. Everett got his goal after a brilliant run down the left wing. Manvers second goal came towards the end when the Sheffield goalkeeper let the ball slip through his fingers from a pass back by the centre-half.
