Serving in Corvette

Sick Berth Attendant Fred Pullan (27), only son of Mr. and Mrs. Pullan, 10, Oakland Terrace, Wath-on-Dearne, has now been serving in the Royal Navy medical section for over two years.

After a spell of shore duty he was transferred to  a corvette, and for several mouths has had varied experiences at sea.

Principally through the excellent family spirit which prevails aboard he finds this life congenial.

Prior to joining up he was at Walk Main Colliery. Ambulance work was one of his hobbies and he is a pastholder of the “Burman Cup,” a competition run in conjunction with the Wath St. John Ambulance classes.

He was also a member of Bert Clegg’s dance band.
