Woman’s Row at Wath
Elisabeth Thorpe was summoned for assaulting Sophia Clarehuge at Wath, on December 19th.
Mr Hickmott, for the complainant said the case really arose out of some immoral actions between complainant’s husband and defendant’s daughter, who, when complainant resented caused her to be ill-treated.
Complainant said she lived in Church street, Wath, and on the evening in question she had occasion to speak to her husband about his suspicious actions.
Soon after she had got to her own door the defendant came up, pulled her hair, and struck her savagely on the hand.
Hannah Bellamy, Mrs Drury, and John Darton corroborated.
Fined five shillings and costs.
