Golden Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Braisby of 1 Wath Wood, who celebrated their golden wedding on September 28th have lived in the same house ever since their marriage at Rotherham 50 years ago.
Mrs, Braisby who is 68, has lived in Wath Wood for 63 years. She was formerly Miss Lucy Roper and Mr. Braisby, who is 74,, came to Wath from Greasbrough to lodge with his future wife’s father about 52 years ago. Mr. Braisby worked for 52 years before retiring eight years ago and for 52 years was in the employ of Earl Fitzwilliam at both New and Old Stubbin Collieries.
Mr. and Mrs. Braisby have brought up a family of ten children; eight boys and two girls and have 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, two of their grandchildren are serving with the Forces.
Owing to a transposition of blocks Mr. Braisby’s picture was inadvertently confused with another portrait in our last issue.
