Scene Of A Tragedy

This photograph of Wath Cemetery, fifty years old, is kindly lent by Mr. W. L. Bradley, White Bear Inn, Wath-on-Dearne. Its current interest is in the colliery shown in the background. This is the old Newhill Pit, down the shaft which a West Melton boy lost his life last week.  The photograph was taken after the pit had been closed but before it was dismantled.
