Romantic Wath Girl’s Tale.
For several hours yesterday the Rotherham West Riding Bench were engaged in bearing a charge indecent assault preferred against Henry Bradley (38), assistant schoolmaster the Wath National School.
There were two allegations in respect of girl scholar aged 12, the dates being March 10th and 17th, The girl was one of a class of 50 boys and girls. She said she was afraid to tell her mother.
Mr. A. Neal, M.P., who defended, said his client denied the charges. The girl on several oocasions had been found to be untruthful. She was of a nervy, romantic character.
In his evidence the defendant said the reason went away from Wath was because he was depressed over the complaint, although he was ignorant of its full nature.
Evidence to defendant’s character was also called.
The defendant was discharged.
