A.R.P. First Aid Test at Wath

Treating One Of The “Subjects “

County District eliminating round of an A.R.P. First Aid Party and Ambulance competition, was held at Wath Athletic Ground on Sunday.

Two teams from Wath, two from Swinton, and two from Rawmarsh took part. One team from each district (Swinton 1st team, Rawmarsh 2nd team, and Wath 1st team), will compete in an area round. Each team consisted of a first aid party car with a crew of four personnel and one driver, an ambulance with one driver and attendant, and a sitting case car with driver.

Drivers were given a written examination and each team was inspected Immediately prior to taking part in the competition. The incident, which was made as realistic as possible, represented a residential area littered with debris. A bomb crater was also marked.

Teams were allowed ten minute. In which to reach, treat and remove casualties from their positions in a cul-de-sac.

Results were: Wath1st team 188, 2nd team 160; Rawmarah 1st team 156, 2nd team 203; Swinton 1st team 208, 2nd team 185.

After the competition, the judges, Dr. R. T. Lee (Swinton), Dr. Bonham, Dr. Lister (Rawmarsh) and Mr. W. E. Haigh (Wath), reviewed the work of the parties and drivers.
