A Village Worthy

This photograph, which has been kindly loaned to us by Mr. A. J. L. Smith, of Wath, Is of the dwarf, George Naylor, whose grave was discovered last week in Wath Churchyard. Mr. Smith tells us that Naylor was a village worthy of over 100 years ago and came to Wath from Hickleton.

He died on March 18th, 1865.

He was only 4ft, 7ins. tall and he was a familiar sight for many years in the parish. A memorial stone was erected in Wath Parish Churchyard by his friends, and the above photograph graced many local houses after his death. He hawked a few sundries and collected rags and bones.
