Brampton R.A.F. Man’s Fate

Within twenty-four hours of returning from leave A/C.2 Fred Poulter (36), of 22, Carnley Street , was killed.

A son of Mr. Mrs. George William Poulter, of 81, Brampton Road, Wombwell, he married Miss Beatrice Griffin, daughter of Mrs. Griffin, Westflelds, Melton, who is left with a baby three months old.

He left home Monday, and the following day ‘ wrote a cheerful letter which his wife received on Wednesday. A telegram received On Thursday brought the news that he had been killed on Tuesday night.

Poulter was an old boy of the council School at Broomhill, in which village his parents lived for many years. He worked for Messrs. Isaac Spencer and Co., artificial manure manufacturers, at Broomhill, until the plant closed down, and later worked on A.R.P. construction work at Hull for three years, finally returning to Wath Main Colliery, where he was employed in the fitting shop.

He joined the R.A.F. last June, and his letters home indicated that he was enjoying the life. His wife, mother, brother, and a brother-in-law, travelled South to attend the funeral on Tuesday.
