The West Melton Victoria Male Voice Choir and quartets have reason to be proud of their conductor, Miss Annie Tingle, of High Street, West Melton. Their successes at the Thurnscoe Music Festival on Saturday, in winning stile choir and quartet classes, are further results of her work.
She was formerly associated with the Wath Alexandra Male Voice Choir, which broke up about eight years ago. She took over control of the Victoria choir and quartets a little over eighteen months ago. During last five months the choir and quartets have won two shields at the Elsecar Festival and two gold medals and a silver cup, in addition to last Saturday’s successes.
The choir now numbers 52, an increase in membership of 40 since Miss Tingle took over
Miss Tingle has had many personal successes in singing, including first class awards at Nottingham, Doncaster and Pontefract festivals.
