Assault Fine After Dance Hall Scene

When Jim Pearson (17), miner, of Princess Street, West Melton, went to a dance he tried to get hold of the microphone and talk through it. When the person who put the records on, Trevor Thompson, objected and told him to stop using the microphone, Pearson then hit him and used obscene language.

This was stated at Rotherham West Riding Court on Friday when Pearson pleaded “Guilty” to assaulting Thompson, occasioning actual bodily harm, using obscene language and to using conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.

He was fined £3 on the first charge, £1 on the second and ordered to keep the peace.
