Wath Win “Telegraph” Cup,
The final for the Sheffield Telegraph Cap was played on the Bramall Lane green Saturday, the analysts being Wath and Norton, two strong teams.
Evidence o£ the great interest in the contest was provided by the large attendance, both teams having plenty of supporters. It was the first time since the inception the competition that either team had reached the final.
Mr. A. Hudson was referee, with Messrs. T. and L. J. Everiss measurers, assisted by the Association secretary, Mr. J. Fowler.
Taking the games coilectively, the standard of play was not quite up that in former finals, but special mention must be made of the games between C. Bright and R Tabner, H. Bradley and J. C. Simpson (this game being especially fine), T. and J. Bradshaw, and R. Mottershead and J. Warrington. At the end of six games played the scores were level, at the end nine games Wath were six in front, and the remaining three games were simply processions for, Wath, who won by 35 points.
At the close of the game, Councillor L. N. Ledingham presented the cup to Mr. Bradley, and complimented the winners upon their display. Mr. C. Harrison, the Norton captain, also added is testimony.
