Ambler Takes Eight Wickets for Wombwell

After scoring 54 against Wath in a Council Minor League match at Wath, Wombwell Main dismissed their opponents for 21, Young Johnny Ambler was responsible for this devastation, his eight wickets costing only 16, He and Jim Tate bowled unchanged, Tate finishing with a record of one for three.

Wombwell Main had four “ducks” in their innings, but the batting was redeemed by P. Jones (11) and Jim Tate (17). For Wath R. Hughes took three for 15, F. Longley 2 for 14, and Mallinder four for four.

Top scorer for Wath was Crampton, whose nine not out included two boundary hits. Next top scorer was Chivers (3) and Little and, Stocks two each.
