Cortonwood 102, Denaby & Cadeby 68
Denaby and Cadeby flattered to deceive at Brampton. After dismissing Cortonwood for 102 they, themselves, were skittled out for 68.
It was the most exciting cricket seen at Brampton for many a month and there was a big crowd to enjoy it. Denaby’s downfall toward the end became a debacle.
Cortonwood batted fairly evenly for their 102, Eric Humphries being top scorer with 23 not out. In the conditions defeat seemed almost certain for the home aide, who hitherto had won only one match on their ground this season.
Howson (20) and F. Roberts (10) opened stubbornly for Denaby, but after they had gone only G Shepard (13) seemed likely to hold the fort. Destruction was wrought, by young Ronnie Higgs, the slow left arm bowler who joinel Cortonwood from HickJeton, and Eric Humphries slow right arm bowler
