Death of Bernard Deakin

The death occurred under tragic circumstances at the Manvers Main Colliery on Tuesday, April 27 of Mr Bernard Deakin (20), second son of Mr and Mrs H Deakin, 18 Herbert Street, Mexborough.

Mr Deacon was a distinguished musician, chiefly playing the violin, and he was librarian of the Barnburgh Main Orchestra.

Interment, which took place on Saturday was attended by many friends.

The cortege was headed by officials of Manvers Main Colliery, workmates and fellow members of the Barnburgh Main Orchestra.
