Drunk and Disorderly at West Melton
Thomas Brouley, of West Melton, was charged with having been drunk and disorderly at West Melton, on the 15th inst.
Police constable Pattison stated that about ten minutes past eleven on Sunday night, he was on duty in Melton road, West Melton, when he found the prisoner drunk and using bad language. Other young men who were with him went away but prisoner feels to go, and declined to give his name or any account of himself. He was therefore obliged to look him up.
Sergeant Woods also gave evidence as to the prisoner’s conduct when at the police station.
Prisoner said that was the first time in his life that he had the before a police court. He denied that he was disorderly. He had recently started to work at the Wath Main Colliery. He hoped the bench would overlook the offence and be would try and do better.
A fine of 5s and costs was imposed, the Chairman remarking that the prisoner was making a very bad beginning if he had only just commenced work.
