Esteemed Organist
Presentation at Wath
Thirty Three Yeasrs Service Recognised
Mr A J Lineham Smith
Striking evidence of the public esteem which Mr A J Lineham Smith, of Burlington Cottage, Wath upon Dearne, has won during his long association with the Roman Catholic Church of St Joseph’s Wath upon Dearne, where for 33 years he has acted as organist and choirmaster, having now relinquished the appointment, was furnished at a very pleasant little gathering held in the Red Lion Hotel, Wath, on Saturday evening, when Mr Smith received from the Catholic community a handsome canteen of cutlery, and from a few friends and well-wishers interested in the event a beautiful case containing Treasury notes.
The canteen of cutlery was inscribed : “Presented to Mr A J Lineham Smith by his friends, Wath – on Dearne, in appreciation of 33 years of faithful service as organist and choir master.”
