Fifty Years In Same House

A Newhill couple, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Carr, both aged 70 celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary on Saturday, at 42 Taylor Row, Newhill, where they have lived since their wedding in 1894.

Mr. Carr was born at Adwick and came to Newhill at the age of four to 42, Taylor Row.  He has lived there ever since, except for a break of about three or four years.  He has worked at Wath Main Colliery and Manvers Main. A keen gardener, he retains interest in his allotments which have always numbered five or six. Mr. Carr is especially proud of his two vines.

Mrs. Carr was formerly Miss Mary Nortcliffe of West Melton.

The couple have had seven children five of whom are living. One son is in the Army and another served in the Forces for about two years. There are 12 grandchildren and a great- grandson.
