Footballer’s Release

Richard Woffinden, of Kilnhurst, the well-known local footballer who has had a contract with Barnsley since 1936, has by his own request been given his release by that club.

Woffinden has had league experience with several clubs, as well as a successful period with Manvers Main when they won the Montagu Cup three times and the Sheffield Challenge Cup.

He works at Manvers Main Colliery, being released from the Army to return to the pits.
