Goat Collects For Hospital.

Yesterday afternoon, in ideal weather, the annual Hospital Sunday demonstration took place at Wath-upon-Dearne, when processions were formed in various parts of the district to the Town Hall grounds, where speeches were made.

The local police and special constables headed the procession, followed by the Wath Motor Fire engine, the various Friendly Societies, the Railway men, branches of the Miners’ Union, Ambulance men, Boys’ Brigade (Mexborough), Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, etc., and pit ponies with drawn from Manvers Main, Wath Main, and Cortonwood Collieries—the latter being freely patronised by the energetic collectors.

A goat cart, also was largely patronised.

Mr. Basil H. Pickering (manager Main Colliery) presided, and the receipts beat all previous records, amounting to £139 9s. 3d.

The sum of £15 7s. was collected by Magpie, the Wath Main Pit pony: £7 9s. 2 ½ d.by  Short, the Cortonwood pony; £1 12s. by the Manvers Main pony; £5 Os. 6d. the Bolton Goat, and £3 7s. by the Doll-carriage
