Golden Wedding
Celebrating their Golden Wedding on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Braisby, of 1, Wath Wood, the house to which they went after their marriage at Rotherham.
Mrs. Braisby, who is 68, was formerly Miss Lucy Roper and has lived in the wood for 63 years.
Mr. Braisby (74) came to Wath from Greasbrough to lodge with his wife’s father about 52 years ago. He retired eight years who, after having worked in the pit for 53 years, 52 of which were for Earl Fitzwilliam, at both New and Old Stubbin Collieries.
Mr. and Mrs. Braisby have brought up a family of ten – eight boys and two girls – and have 24 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two grandchildren are serving in the Forces.
