Golden Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. W. Parkin of 7a, Rockingham Road, Swinton, are celebrating their golden wedding on Sunday May 14th. They were married at Wath-on-Dearne in 1894, Mrs. Parkin being the third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Stephenson, very well-known Wath residents.
They came to live at “The Laurels,” Swinton, early in their married life, and of their four children perhaps Mrs. W. Vernon, who is in full charge of all the women workers at Messrs. J. Baker and Bessemer Limited, Kilnhurst, is the best known.
Of the rest of the family Mr. Philip Parkin is living at Steppingley, Bedford, Mr. Donald Parkin is at Marple, Cheshire, and the other daughter Mrs. Ernest Wainwright, whose husband Captain E. Wainwright has for the past two years been serving in India, is living at Conisborough.
There are seven grandchildren, and the whole of the family, with the exception of Captain Wainwright, hope to be together for the celebration, which is to be held at the Crown Hotel, Rotherham.
