Wath Win at Harrogate by the Only Goal.
Thanks to a sound defence, Wath were able to keep their goal intact and beat Harrogate, at Harrogate, yesterday, by a goal scored by Wroe.
Topham, their ‘keeper, was hard pressed on several occasions. The game was even throughout, Wath, perhaps, having a slight advantage through smarter and more accurate passing. Holt and Longworth, who were well supported with passes, centred well, but Davies and Bell. for Harrogate, maintained good defence.
Five minutes from the interval a misunderstanding let Prior get away. Gale rushed out, but Prior passed to Wroe, who shot into an open goal. In the early stages of the second half Dyer hit the Wath crossbar and J. S. Smith put into Topham’s hand. When Harrogate attacked on other occasions they finished weakly. Beverley once broke up a good movement. Wroe almost got through a second time for Wath.
