Headmaster 31 Years.

After being headmaster at the Wath National School for 31 years, Mr. A. Gate, is retiring in March.

During this long period, Mr. Gate has never had an adverse report on the work of the school either from the diocesan, local, or Government inspectors.

Mrs. Gate has been associated with him in the work practically the whole of the time.

Since the West Riding County Council granted County Minor Scholarships to elementary school children, the Wath National School has gained no fewer than 117 places.

It is proposed to mark Mr. and Mrs. Gate’s retirement with a suitable testimonial, of which the Vicar and Rural Dean, the, Rev. F. B. Gunnery is the honorary secretary
