Mitchell Main 141 for 5 Rawmarsh 127
Rawmarsh never had much of a look-in at Mitchell Main.
Scholes, Knutton, and Hawke batted fairly well and scored the bulk of the Rawmarsh total-127, but Mitchell Main took the match fairly easily, with 141 for 5.
Norman Kilner was got rid of fairly cheaply, but Lilley and C. Senior quickly put the issue out of doubt.
Hickleton Main 121 Wath 213 for 7
For the second time this season Wath ran up a double hundred from Hickleton Main bowling, and declared at 213 for 7, leaving the Wath bowlers just comfortable time to win the match, Hickleton being all out for 121.
The Wath batti-ag was fairly level, though Barry Woodruffe, with 63, played an outstanding innings. Cavill, Marsh, and Johnson all batted well for their runs. On the Hickleton, side Davis was outstanding, with 42.
Mexborough 111 for 1 Wombwell Main 106
Mexboro’ were in capital mood for their home match with Wombwell Main, and handsomely reversed the verdict recorded in their second match of the season, when they went down heavily at Wombwell.
The feature of the match was the bowling of Dan Elliott and Hobson, and some fine hitting by Carlin. Elliott has not had much luck with his bowling in this his first season with Mexboro’, for indeed his bowling has been a lot better than his bowling figures. On Saturday, however, he had a success, dismissing the last four men for 14 runs, when Wombwell were beginning to assemble something like a score. Hobson also bowled steadily,, and took five wickets for 53. Wombwell were all out for 106, and Carlin and Greig hitting merrily, quickly wiped out that total.
Carlin’s 66 not out included a bunch of Si x0.4. There is not a man in the League to-day who uses the long handle like “Bob.”
