Home from Kuala Lumpur

Back in Wath mission work in Kuala Lumpur of the Reverend Douglas and Mrs Joan Erickson, son-in-law and daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Parkin, 69 Burman Rd. They met while returning from missions work in China, were married in Wath and spent a year in the United States before leaving for Malaya four years ago

This is Mrs. Erickson’s first re-visit home for five years and they have brought with them their two children born in Malaya, Paul (3) and Philip (1).

A Lutheran pastor, the Rev. Douglas Erickson hails from Grand Forks North Dakota and in September he and his wife and two children will be sailing for America to spend a holiday with his parents.

Mr and Mrs. Erickson left Kuala Lumpur on April 28th. They flew to Rome, where they spent three days before moving on to Geneva. After four days in the Alps they entrained for Southern Germany where they spent five days with Mr Erikkson’s relatives.       They later spent seven days visiting relatives in Norway (they were there on May 17th—Norwegian Independence Day) and later flew from Oslo to Glasgow. They spent two days in Scotland and arrived in Wath on Saturday evening.

In Malaya they have worked in conjunction with a Chinese evangelist among three different communities.         In their care have been Malayans, Indians and a considerable nurnber of children of British Service families.
