New Wath Councillor Takes Job
Coun. A. Dilkes, Chairman of Wath Labour Party, who became a member of Wath Urban Council in March this year, is the new Chairman of the Council’s Housing Committee following the resignation from the Council of Mr W Rawlinson. The latter’s resignation will cause a by-election for which polling, if necessary, will probably take place on Saturday, December 6th. On that time-table, nomination day would be Friday, November 21st, and the last date for withdrawals, Tuesday November 25th.
Resignation Reported
Mr. Rawlinson s resignation, dated 13th October, was formally reported to the Council at then meeting, on Tuesday by the Clerk, (Mr. W.A. Roberts)
Coun. Dilkes’ nomination as Housing chairman to succeed him was moved and seconded. Coun. C. Smith moved Coun E. Hardaker but received no seconder.
The Chairman, Coun. P R. Baker J.P. remarked with a smile to Coun. Dilkes: “Congratulations Mr. Dilkes. I hope you can bear the weight.
Coun Dilkes: Thank you, Mr Chairman. I hope I shall have the full support of the Council in the new Job.
The chairman: You’ll need it.
A minute of the Housing Committee read: Considerable discussion took place upon the method of letting new houses on the Number Two Scheme and ultimately was moved by Mr Dearden, seconded by Mr W Cutts that the arrangements made by the Council to let one of those houses to Mrs Dodsworth be terminated on the part of the Council resolution letting their to be rescinded. On the motion been put to the vote from the chairman declared it not carried.
On Tuesday the Council deleted this Minute.
