3—Denaby Welfare Baths re-opened under management of Conisboro’ U.D.C.

3—Further extension of Mexboro’ Secondary School approved.

3—Australian and Yorkshire cricketers laid wreaths on the graves of Roy Kilmer and Irving Washington at Wombwell.

4—War memorial unveiled at Darfield.

5—Quarterly meeting of Yorkshire Allotments Federation held at Goldthorpe.

11—Ministry of Health inquired into proposal to build town hall at Wombwell, and Ratepayers’ Association opposed.

16—First ambulance competitions held at Denaby Welfare Institute.

29—Dispute caused one day stoppage at Houghton Main.

29—Rev. F. B. Gunnery, vicar of Wath announced acceptance of living of Thornbury (Glous.).

29—Bolton U.D.C. announced scheme of amalgamation with Thurnscoe, with inclusion Barnburgh and Hickleton.

8—Senior school opened at Brampton, provided by Ellis Trust at cost of £15,000.

13—Consternation caused in brickyard region of Mexboro by plague of insects from refuse tip.

17—Dearne Valley Water Board decided to construct Roebuck Bill reservoir at of £9,000, subject to assistance from Unemployment Grants Committee.

20—Portrait of Mr. F. Sokell, late president, unveiled in Wombwell Reform Club.

21—West Melton Wesleyan’ celebrated jubilee.

23—Thurnscoe U.D.C. accepted custody of recreation ground provided by Miners’ Welfare Fund.

23—Number of residents attended stormy meeting of Mexboro’ U.D.C., at which it was decided to cease tipping at the Brickyard.

30—Wath Centre, S.J.A.B. made presentation to Corps Officer Winch, in recognition of 21 years’ service as secretary.
