Lecturer at Conference in Copenhagen
Mr. Derek Gibbons, former Wath Grammar School student and son of Mr. and Mrs. S. V. Gibbons, of Sycamore Crescent, Wath, is In Copenhagen as the British Science secretary representing the United Kingdom at a conference on the use of radio isotopes in Industrial science. Thirty years old
Mr, Gibbons, who has been a research scientist on radio isotopes at Harwell for six years, is also giving a lecture at the conference of top scientists from many countries including France,U.S.A., Russia, Denmark and Britain.
Following the conference, Mr. Gibbons will move to Vienna to prepare a report on the conference. He will be there for a month.
Mr. Gibbons obtained a B.Sc, Degree with first class honours in Chemistry in 1951 at Birmingham University and in 1954 gained his Ph.D. Degree in Analytical Chemistry at Birmingham. He married a Wath Grammar School girl (nee Haywood) who took up teaching. They have one son, David, who will soon be a year old. Mrs. Gibbons is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Haywood, of 48 Winterwell Road, West Melton, for several weeks,
