With Honours.
At a recent examination in connection with the London School of Violinists, Mr. Joseph Goodair L.S.V. (37), son of Mrs. E. Goodair and the late Mr. Goodair, of 18, Newark Road, Mexborough gained the Licentiate Diploma in violin playing with honours.
He gained 97 of a possible 100 marks and was awarded the licentiate school prize for gaining the best marks throughout the British Isles in the examination.
Mr. Goodair is employed at Manvers Main Colliery and is leader of Mexborough Technical College Orchestra.
At the age of 17 Mr. Goodair played in the orchestra at the Wath Majestic Theatre in the days of the silent film. He was formerly Musical Director at the old Hippodrome, Mexborough and at the Palace Theatre, Attercliffe,
Mr. Goodair served four and a half years in the R.A.F and during that time played in Richard Crean’s orchestra for Ivor Novello’s show “The Dancing Years,” produced at Blackpool. He also played in Sydney Torch’sorchestra.
