Wath fully deserved their win at Loughboro’ on Saturday and they played some of the brightest football seen on the ground this season. By comparison Loughboro’ were a very poor lot. Their weak display was in a great measure due to a last minute change in the forward line, two regular inside forwards being unable to play owing to injuries. The substitutes played poorly. Loughboro’ also tried a new centre-forward from Notts. County, but he was not successful.
Throughout the match Wath played the better football and in spite of the greasy surface controlled the ball effectively. They played a fast and interesting game. Their forwards constantly harassed the Loughboro’ defence. Their passing was usually so accurate, and they kept the ball constantly on the move so successfully, that at times the Loughboro’ defence seemed helpless. Another pleasing feature of the attack was the good shooting.
