Denaby Twice Lose Lead
Manvers 2 Denaby United 2
After twice leading, Denaby United took away a point from their away match with Manvers. The final score was 2-2.
Guest, the Denaby left-winger, opened the scoring after five minutes and Warren equalised shortly afterwards. There followed good distributive work by both half-back lines, but hearty tackling by the defenders prevented any serious danger to goal. Pillips, the lively Manvers winger, came near with a good shot that hit the woodwork. Coulson on the other wing was injured before half-time, handicapping the Manvers forward line.
With the second half five minutes old Smith at centre forward put Denaby ahead with a hard shot. After 15 minutes Newey handled and from the penalty Phillips put Manvers level. Persistent Manvers attacks failed to produce any further score.
The half-backs showed up well throughout the game. Outstanding among the forwards were Guest and Smith (Denaby) and Phillips and Culson (Manvers).
