Manvers Film Shows
Film shows instead of parties have been given by the Manvers Main Collieries Ltd., this year, to children of their employees.
Over 300 children attended the film show held last Thursday at Swinton Roxy. 600 children were present at the show given on Friday at Mexborough Empire. 420 at that held on Monday at Wath Majestic, and over 700 from the Dearne district were present at that held at Goldthorpe Picture House on Tuesday.
The shows lasted nearly two hours, after which each child was given 2s. by Father Christmas. Half the gift had been subscribed by the Company and half by the employees. Both management and the men were represented at each film show.
Manvers Welfare and Betterment Department have this week issued over 500 vouchers to the value of 6s. to Manvers pensioners.
