The Bishop of Sheffield (Dr. L. Hunter) is to conduct a service and confirmation at Wombwell Parish Church on Sunday, April 30th.
Dr. T. N. V. Potts, West Riding County Medical Officer for fourteen years has tendered his resignation, which will take effect from July 1st.
The Rev. Philip Houghton of Sussex, for many years vicar of Kilnhurst, left an estate valued for probate at £4,328.
Sunday being St. George’s Day, the scouts affiliated to the Mexborough Local Association will attend a special service at Mexborough Parish Church on Sunday afternoon at 3.30pm.
Central heating is banned again in England and Wales from Monday, April 17th, until October 31st. The ban was twice broken last year because of cold spells. It comes into force in Scotland on May 8th.
Mr. Leary Constantine, the West Indies Test Match cricket player, who has promised to play in the charity cricket match at Mexborough on June 19th, will distribute the prizes at the Barnsley Grammar School in May.
Dr. P. J. Cosgrove, who has been Casualty and Orthopaedic Officer at the Montagu Hospital for nearly two years, is leaving the Hospital to-day (Friday) to take up a Commission as Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.
