The ban imposed on the ” Daily Worker ” under Defence Regulations on January 17th was raised by the Home Secretary on Wednesday.

The Directors of the Manvers Main Colliery Co. have recommended the payment of a dividend of 5 per cent. on the ordinary shares, against 7 per cent. for last year.

The Regional Transport Commissioner has stated on the matter of transport for football clubs: ” It will be necessary for application to be made for each individual journey, giving details as to the number of miles involved on the operation and the reason why existing means of transport cannot be made.”
The supply of leather gloves and fabric gloves will be controlled from September 1st, 1942, by new directions made under the Apparel and Textiles Order. These directions will provide for the production of utility leather gloves, lined and unlined, and a small number of utility cotton fabric and astrakhan gloves.
In connection with next Thursday’s National Day of Prayer short services at works, and factories and shops are being arranged by the local clergy in certain parts of South Yorkshire.
Dearne Education Sub-Committee at a meeting on Monday passed a vote of condolence with the family of the late Coun. W. M. Starkey and decided to place on record their appreciation of his services to education in the district.
Approximately 7s. in every pound spent by the Red Cross and St. John since the outbreak of war has been provided by the weekly pennies of millions of men and women workers, regular contributors to the Red Cross Penny-a-Week Fund.
