A new organ is being erected in Swinton parish church.

A well-known Mexboro’ man was arrested on Tuesday at Mexboro’ for arrears of maintenance.

Building trade at Bolton upon Dearne appears to be very brisk, and the township is growing rapidly.

Mr. B. Oakden has been appointed caretaker and attendance officer at the Thurnscoe Board Schools.

On Tuesday the Rev. R. B. Blakeney, M.A., Rector of Wombwell, was the preacher at York Minster.

Two grandchildren’s concerts are announced to be given at Swinton National School on December 18th and 19th.

A Darfield Widow having two admirers decided to take a ballot of her neighbours.  The voting was 133 to 17.

A gentleman who used to be an Urban Council surveyor in this district is now an inmate of Wadsley Asylum.

The Swinton Town Brass Band announced a late evening dance in the Board School, on Boxing Night, December 26th.

Mr H. Waddington, auctioneer, Mexboro’, will be a candidate at the next election for Urban Council honours at Mexboro’.

The Yorkshire County C.C. have promised to allow George Pinder, senr., the sum of 10s. weekly during the winter months.

A movement is on foot to present a testimonial to Mr. Harding of Swinton, who for eighteen years was organist at Swinton Church.

At the next men’s meeting at St George’s Hall Swinton, the subject for discussion will be “Who is to blame, the pig or the stye?”

The Rev. J. G. Patrick, senior curate of Swinton, who has been appointed Vicar of Humbleton, will not leave Swinton until the New Year.
