A new organ is to be dedicated at West Melton Congregational Church on Saturday.
The West Riding County Council reduced their rate call by 9d. to 12s. in the pound at their meeting on Wednesday.

A Sub-Divisional parade of Special Constables has been provisionally fixed to be held at Mexborough on the afternoon of Sunday, April 20th.

The resignation of two County Aldermen, Sir Ben Turner and Aid. John Siddall, of Mexborough, was reported to the West Riding County Council on Wednesday.

Commencing from March 16th, the maximum amount of tonnage of newsprint to be delivered to newspapers is 25 per cent. of prewar supply. All newsapers will progressively became slimmer and slimmer.
A suggestion that tenancy of a Council house should be transferred from a father serving with the Forces to his 15-year-old son was rejected by Conisborough Urban Council at their meeting on Wednesday.
Coun. H. Cutts, of Wath, has been appointed to the West Riding Education Committee. Coun. Cutts has been on the County Council for seven years and has been a member of Wath Urban Council for nearly 20 years.
Mr. Robert Claytor, a well known mining engineer, of The Pastures. Littleover, Derby, has died at the age of 82. He was managing director of Shipley Collieries, and chairman and managing director of Mitchell Main Collieries, Wombwell.
Takings at the exhibition of model aeroplanes held at Mexborough Secondary School on February 22nd and March 1st amounted to £ 7 14s. Sd., which was given as a gift to the Government in connection with the Don and Dearne War Weapons Week.
