Married in Italy
Capt L.G.Cooper, son of Mr J.P.Cooper and the late Mrs Cooper, 44 Beach Road, Wath, has returned to Wath with the bride he married in Italy and is now on demobilisation leave.
Mrs Cooper was formerly Miss Ada Pontel and come from the village of Visco, Undine. Capt Cooper met her while serving with a beach group of the Royal Army Pioneer Corps in 1944 and married her in Visco on September 25, 1945.
All the members of Mrs Cooper’s family are schoolteachers, and she herself was teaching in the village school when she met Capt Cooper.
Capt Cooper has service 6 ½ years in the forces. He received a mention in Dispatchers.
Born at Wath, and an old student of Wath Grammar School, Capt Cooper was employed by Messrs Whitworth, son and nephew, and is returning there on completion of his demobilisation leave.
Mrs Cooper likes Wath very much. She does not find a climate much different from that in her home country since she lives in the mountains north of Italy. Although she speaks very little English, Mrs Cooper is rapidly learning the language.
