Free Scoring Elsecar, Chapman scored 53, J Woolley 32 and H Buckley 33
C Loy scored with 29 for Wombwell Main.
Elsecar 230 for 9 Brampton 81
One of the largest crowds ever seen on the Elsecar ground assembled on Monday for the match with Brampton. Elsecar had the assistance of Len Smith who delighted the crowd with 101 by delightful cricket. C Hesketh supported with 61.
Horace Kay then bowled all through the Brampton innings securing six wickets for 34 runs.
Elsecar 137 Mexborough 138 for 5
There must have been quite 4,000 spectators at this match at Elsecar, on Tuesday, being the third of the Elsecar Feast matches. Glorious weather prevailed, and the site of the spectators squatting 4 to 6 deep all round this picturesquely situated little ground, provided such a spectacle as the oldest Elsecar supporters have never previously experienced.
W Bradbury with 47 and W Chapman with 31 were the mainstay of the Elsecar batting.
For Mexborough, Dan Elliott came out with a fine figures of six for 27 runs – the best bit of bowling he has done for many a day. Percy Beaumont with two for 27 also bowled well
WP Turner carried his bat through the Mexborough innings for a determined 71 not out. R M Carlin contributed 36.

For Swinton, Pearce took eight wickets and Hakin 2 for 5. W Reader scored 36.

For Mitchell Main E Halliday scored 38, and Lakin took three for 52
A W Carr was not out 66 for Darfield, and Needham’s five wickets costing 72 runs and Carr recorded five for 34.
Brampton 112 Mexborough 124
W P Turner top scored with 37 for Mexborough. Richards again bowled very effectively, having five wickets for 50 runs and Percy Beaumont took two for five.
A Turton was not out 28 in Brampton’s innings.
