1—Rev. A. T. L. Grear, retired headmaster of Wath Grammar School, joined the staff of Rotherham Parish Church.
4—Mr. W. A. Lewis, chairman for 24 years of Mexborough Montagu Hospital, celebrated 79th birthday.
5—Mexborough telephone system changed from manual to automatic exchange.

5—Wath Main Colliery presentations to Mr. C. H. Hodkin and Mr. G. Galloway for gallantry in helping to rescue comrades buried under fail.
5—Flight-Sergeant Cyril Unwin, of Bolton, awarded D.F.M. after destroying ten enemy planes. Later awarded bar to D.F.M.

9—Death of Mr. William Oates, of Wentworth, former Yorkshire county cricketer aged 77.
12—Ladies’ Committee effort for Montagu Hospital raised £250.
12—Vicious nine-hour air raid on Sheffield by German planes.
14—Lord Harlech. North East Regional Commissioner for Civil Defence, opened new Manvers Main Boys’ Club.
15 – Second German Air raid on Sheffield area. Fierce activity on both sides for 3 ½ hours.
