Mr. C. H. Hodkin, Bircle Dene, Campsall Fields, Wath-on-Dearne, has taken up an appointment with the Safety in Mines Research Board as assistant to Dr. Philips, investigator into roof movements.
He has been with the Wath Main Colliery Company. Ltd., for 4 ½ years as under-manager working the Melton Field and Haigh Moor Seams.
A native of Thorpe Healey, Mr. Hodkin came from Messrs. Newton Chambers to Wath Main.
He is succeeded by Mr. William Clegg, as under-manager. A native of West Melton, Mr. Clegg is 27, and has worked at Wath Main since he was 16, passing through all the various grades. By study at Mexborough and Barnsley Technical Colleges, he obtained his 2nd Class Certificate 14 September, 1940. Mr. Clegg is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Clegg, of West Melton. His father has been employed at Wath Main for a number of years.
