New Councillors – Mr Phillip R Baker

Widely known in the Wath, Swinton and Mexborough areas Mr Philip R Baker, of 18, Winfield Road, Wath, was born and educated in Swinton, and spent a considerable period at Mexborough before Coming to Wath 15 years ago.

He has worked at Manvers Main colliery for over 20 years, and is at present secretary of the Manvers Main checkweigh fund and an active member of the Manvers Main home coal delivery society.

A supporter of the Labour Party for many years, Mr Baker’s first attempt the council honours as a representative of that party has been successful.
