New Vicar of Wath

The Rev J.H. Oxer, M.A., vicar of St Chad’s, Norton would seek, has accepted the living of All Saints Parish Church, Wath.

Mr Oxer took an honours degree at Cambridge and was ordained in the Coventry dieses 1926. He is a former curate at Attercliffe and served under the late Canon S.T.G.Smith, one-time Rector of Wombwell.

Mr Oxer was vicar at of Owlerton and Kimberworth before moving to Norton Woodseats. He was vicar of Kimberworth from 1936 to 1949.

Married, with four sons and a daughter, Mr Oxer told a “South Yorkshire Times” reporter this week that he did not know when he would move to Wath, but it is understood the changeover will take place in about two month’s time.

The living at Wath has been vacant since September, when the vicar, the Rev E.B.Evans at set the living at Wadworth.
