Pam from Canada is Rooting For The Old Country

Yorkshire and Canada compare very favourably in the eyes of a Canadian girl who has been staying in West Melton for three weeks.

Pam Born, of Winnipeg, has been visiting West Melton girl, Sharon Coward, at the home of Sharon’s parents, 1 Melton High Street.

The two girls met while Sharon was working in Canada. When Sharon returned to West Melton earlier this year, Pam planned her holiday to include a trip to South Yorkshire.

She has been to all the local sites — including York and Knaresborough and has visited the coast. Mrs. Marilyn Morland, Sharon’s sister, who also lives at West Melton, told the “South Yorkshire Times,” “Pam has thoroughly enjoyed herself and has liked everything she has seen.

“She has made lots of friends and plans to return to England to work.”

Mrs. Morland and her husband Derek spent 18 months working in Canada. Sharon joined them for nine months of their stay and while she was there she worked in the same office as Pam.

Pam’s visit has included a trip to a local night club -when she celebrated her 19th birthday last week. She flew back to Canada on Wednesday.

Before coming to West Melton. Pam spent three weeks touring Europe with a Canadian friend.
